It’s a fair question. Plenty of UAE businesses run entirely on Instagram and WhatsApp and do fine. So before spending a dirham, it’s worth asking honestly: what does a website actually add?
What social media can’t do for you
Social accounts are rented land — the platform owns your audience, the algorithm decides who sees you, and a suspended account can wipe out years of work overnight. A website is the one place online that’s yours. It also does things social simply can’t:
- Show up on Google when someone searches for your service — most buying decisions still start there.
- Present your full menu, services, prices, hours and location clearly, in one place.
- Look established and credible to a customer deciding whether to trust you.
- Take bookings, orders or enquiries around the clock without you replying manually.
When you probably do need one
A website earns its place quickly if any of these are true: customers search Google for what you sell; you want to be found on Google Maps; you take bookings or orders; you sell to other businesses; or you want to look more credible than competitors who only have a social page.
When you can wait
If you’re testing an idea, sell purely through personal referrals, or genuinely get all the customers you need from social, you can wait — but even then, a simple one-page site from AED 499 that captures your Google presence is cheap insurance against the day the algorithm changes.
The middle path
You don’t have to choose. The strongest setup is a simple, fast website that your social profiles link to — social for discovery and personality, the website to convert and to own your Google presence. They work best together.
Not sure if it’s worth it for your business? Tell us what you do and we’ll give you an honest recommendation — even if that’s “wait”. No pressure.
